Project Objectives

The BeeConnect project investigates how habitat connectivity influences genetic diversity and gene flow in wild bee populations in Baden-Württemberg. By combining population genomic analyses with landscape data, the project aims to identify factors that contribute to the long-term conservation of genetically diverse and resilient populations.

Assessing Genetic Diversity

Investigating the genetic diversity of selected wild bee species across different regions of Baden-Württemberg and how it changes over time.

Investigating Habitat Connectivity

Analysing the relationships between landscape structure, habitat connectivity, genetic differentiation and gene flow among wild bee populations.

Supporting Nature Conservation

Developing practical recommendations to improve habitat connectivity and support the long-term conservation of genetic diversity in wild bee populations.
